To celebrate the Hard Rock Cafe's 40th Anniversary, reggae bands Steel Pulse and Matisyahu were two of the headliners performing live on the Maui Arts and Cultural Center. Rebelution, The Dirty Heads and Maui's own band, The Green, played back to back all afternoon in the MACC's beautiful outdoor venue, Yokouchi Pavillion.

Maui Concerts - Doobie Brothers and War

The Maui music scene was once again rocking when the Doobie Brothers and the band War came in concert to the Maui Arts and Cultural Center on April 1, 2011. The Maui concert with the Doobie Brothers also brought along a few of their friends to share in the fun. Michael McDonald, Mick Fleetwood and Willie Nelson joined the band onstage for a few songs and got the packed group of Maui music fans on their feet singing along.

Legendary Doobie Brothers bassist, Tom Johnston shows off his true rock star skills.

Check out the lineup of rock stars on the Maui Arts and Cultural stage!

The Doobie Brothers auctioned off a signed guitar along with lots of perks to a lucky bidder who generously paid $16,000 for the package. The lucky winner got to join the Doobie Brothers on stage (see above) for the final song!

The new Yokouchi Pavilion at the MACC provides a great stage with an intimate feeling for any show! I always love the light shows.

Parting shot of both bands back stage.

What a great group of talent!

Maui Concerts - A Year of Living Musically on Maui 2010
What a year it has been for me in terms of music photography!

When I was given the opportunity to shoot the concerts at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center, I was delighted to say the least.
I get to do what I love and listen to great music while I work (with ear plugs in-hee hee!).
It has been an incredible year for concerts at the MACC. Our little tropical island has hosted musical legends including Sheryl Crow, Steve Miller, Jimmy Buffet, Journey, Aerosmith, Loggins and Messina, Pablo Cruise, John Legend, Michael McDonald and Boz Scaggs.
And local musical legends including Willie K, Eric Gilliom, Richard Ho'opi'i, Ryan Kamaka Fernandez, Jeff Peterson, Vince Esquire and Makana just to name a few.

The MACC also hosted the annual Ukulele Festival as well as the Slack Key Guitar Festival making it a well- rounded year for all types of music lovers.

I love my job with the MACC and can't wait to go to work- you can only imagine how fun the office is! Thanks to Art, Candy, Steve, Mick, Launa, both Lisas, Teri, Toni, Karen, Barbara, Karee and the entire hard working crew at the MACC for welcoming me to the team and making my job exciting every day!
Next up: Sammy Hagar, the Red Rocker at the MACC on April 9, 2010. Tickets available at (808) 242-SHOW or log onto http://www.mauiarts.org/.
To music lovers everywhere!
Aubrey
